βρύχιος ( βρύξ), die Meerestiefe betreffend, ἅλμη (wo es 2 Endungen), tief, Aesch. Prom. 1083; βρυχίη ἅλς Ap. Rh. 1, 310; vgl. 4, 946; πόντος Archestr. Ath. VII, 302 a. In βρύχιος ἠχὼ βροντῆς Aesch. Prom. 1082 wird gew. erklärt: vom Meere her; richtiger »der tiefe«, ohne daß dabei mit den Schol. an βρύχω zu denken, was die Quantität der ersten Sylbe verbietet; so βρύχιον ἀναστένουσα Heliod. 6, 9.
